About Central Pennsylvania Romance Writers

Central Pennsylvania Romance Writers is a chapter of Romance Writers of America. Our members range from State College to Lancaster, Williamsport to Hanover and beyond, and we meet centrally once a month near Harrisburg. While the romance genre is a focus for most of our members, we meet monthly to hear presentations regarding the craft, research, and business components of all aspects of the publishing industry.

CPRW meets monthly. Meetings feature guest speakers, critique sessions, market news, networking, and more. But as a member, what do you get besides meetings? In 2017, we received the first Chapter Excellence Award (small chapters, under 50 members) from RWA. We believe our membership and the programs we offer on an ongoing basis are the main contributing factors to our receipt of this award. Click the link in the sidebar to learn more about these programs.

The most common remark made by new members after spending time at a meeting with us: "I've found my people!" Prospective members may attend two meetings before being required to join. So you get to check us out, risk-free. At the third meeting, you must join to be allowed to attend any further meetings. Membership in Romance Writers of America is required. In addition to RWA membership, current CPRW annual membership dues are $28, and includes all of our meetings, a monthly newsletter, and an annual holiday party.

CPRW Statement of Purpose

Central Pennsylvania Romance Writers is an incorporated chapter of Romance Writers of America, a national professional association, and therefore adheres to its bylaws.

CPRW encourages excellence in romantic fiction, assists writers as they become published and establish their careers in the writing field, and provides continuing guidance and education for writers within the romance publishing industry.

CPRW offers personal and professional support to our members, both published and unpublished, and promotes the romance genre within our own communities. You may visit as a guest for two meetings. Upon arrival of your third meeting you must be (1) a member of RWA and (2) a member of CPRW.
